Atropine

dose in bradycardia - 0.5 mg IV q3-5 min up to 0.04 mg/kg (2-3 mg)

dose in EMD - 1 mg IV q3-5 min up to 0.04 mg/kg (2-3 mg)

To be used intratracheally in adults, atropine should be diluted with 10ml of either normal saline or sterile water.

The vagolytic atropine may cause tachycardia and should be used with caution in the face of myocardial ischemia/infarction. Doses smaller than 0.5mg may enhance bradycardia and should not be used. The complete vagolytic dose is 2.0mg total. Doses greater than 2.0mg have no value.
