Sodium Bicarbonate
dose - 1 mEq/kg IV
true indication
- preexisting hyperkalema with EMD
relative indications
- preexisting metabolic acidosis
- tricyclic overdose
The value of sodium bicarbonate is questionable during cardiac arrest, and it is NOT recommended for the routine cardiac arrest. Possible uses include prolonged CPR, known preexisting metabolic acidosis, and hypercalcemia.
