- H2O solubility
- ISA
- alpha blockade
*bottom line
- use atenolol if H2O solubility is needed (decrease side effects)
- use acebutolol if ISA is needed (decrease cardiac depression)
- use labetalol for additional vasodilatation (severe hypertension)
- use metoprolol for cardioprotection (lipid solubility needed?)
- atenolol or metoprolol may be just as good as propranolol for headaches
