ACLS Algorithms
Acute Myocardial Infarction Algorithm
vital signs, O2, IV access, monitor, 12-lead EKG, CXR
systolic BP > 90? YES -> nitroglycerine 0.3-0.4 SL (repeat q5min x2)
eligible for thrombolytic therapy? YES -> administer thrombolytic therapy within 30-60 min
consider other acute therapies
- morphine 1-3 mg IV
- aspirin 325mg PO
- nitroglycerine 10-20 µg/min IV (if systolic BP > 90)
- beta blockers IV
- heparin IV (to follow thrombolytics)
- lidocaine therapy is NOT routine
