Epinephrine
dose in v fib/v tach
- 1 mg IV q3-5 min alternate dosages in refractory v fib/v tach
- 2-5 mg IV q3-5 min
- 1 mg, 3 mg, 5 mg 3 min apart
- 0.1 mg/kg q3-5 min
To be used intratracheally in adults, epinephrine should be diluted with 10ml of either normal saline or sterile water.
Improved coronary and cerebral profusion is the primary beneficial effect of epinephrine during cardiac arrest. May also increase automaticity and make VF more susceptible to DC countershock.
dose in anaphylaxis
- adults 0.2-1.0 mg SC q4 hours
- children 0.01 mg/kg (0.5 mg max) SC q4 hours
Avoid with narrow angle glaucoma, cardiac failure, coronary insufficiency
